JOINT RESPONSE TO ACMA ON WIRELESS BROADBAND AND RADIO ALTIMETER COEXISTENCE

AIPA and partners have submitted a joint response to ACMA’s consultation on managing the coexistence of 5G wireless broadband and aircraft radio altimeters. With current safeguards set to expire in March 2026, the submission warns that moving to voluntary controls too early could create safety risks. It calls for enforceable emission limits, comprehensive risk assessments, and protections for all aircraft types until next-generation interference-tolerant altimeters are fully deployed, ensuring aviation safety keeps pace with expanding 5G networks.
